As sewn, there is no way to get the outer cover off for washing, because the way the zipper is sewn across the bottom with a cover until some future date the beads are compressed enough to allow the inner sack to flex through the opening. The inner sack does have a zipper as well. So if you wanted to deal with styro bead mess, I guess you could remove some. See from the pix the opening does not pull very wide. The handle is some kind of faux leather fabric, so not as sturdy as you might imagine from the pictures and rather smaller, thinner. I see the possibility of it tearing, but it is handy. Not as much as I imagined, but ok. I love the color, pattern and texture (especially), so that’s why it stays. It is a thick canvas-y textured fabric, which I very much like.
